Aberaeron Longboat Rowing Club
*OPEN DAY CANCELLED* - Please note, there has been an incident at Aberaeron Harbour and the slip is now cordoned off. Unfortunately as a result the Open Day (8th May) is cancelled but it will be rescheduled soon. Please check back for updates.
We are a friendly rowing club based in the picturesque harbour town of Aberaeron, Ceredigion.
We row to sea in Celtic Longboats, very stable and safe boats that are 7.47m long with fixed seats, four rowers and a cox. While some members row for fun and fitness, others compete in the Welsh Sea Rowing Association league races that take place around the coast of Wales each summer. There are also longer races to enjoy such as the River Cleddau and Menai Straits races, both around 12 miles in length, and the 22 mile Great River Race along the River Thames in London. In May 2019, the club completed the Celtic Challenge, an arduous 90 mile race from Arklow in Ireland to Aberystwyth, and hopes to do so again in 2021. We welcome new members and you can row on two occasions before deciding whether to join. We have qualified rowing coaches to help new members learn to row and develop their technique. For further information about membership, please visit our Membership page. Our club is affiliated to the WSRA (Welsh Sea Rowing Association) and Aberaeron Yacht Club. |
